There are three different companies running trains from Watford.
Midland Mainline The card can be used on a "pay as you go" basis between Watford and Euston
Southern Railway The card can be used on a "pay as you go" basis  for journeys  between Watford and Clapham Junction.
London Overground is part of  Transport for London. The Oyster card can be used for all  payments on trains running on the former Silverlink Metro line between        Watford and Euston.
National Rail Student and Senior discounts can be encoded on Oyster cards  by taking the discount card and the Oyster card to a London Underground ticket office
